The NFL Combine

The NFL combine took place over the week. Actually it might still be taking place. I have no idea, and surprisingly, I don't care. The reason that is surprising is because I LOVE the NFL draft. I count down to it. For example there are something like 2 months until the draft. Hey, I never said it was a detailed countdown. Jerk.

Anyway...the reason I don't like the combine is because I think it totally misses what makes for great football players. Obviously being able to run fast, or jump high, or bench press 225 pounds a lot is a good thing for a football player. I just hate how a player's college career kind of becomes worthless if they don't put up great numbers.

Take Matt Leinart. (no really...take him. haha) He won almost every single game he played in college. But he fell in the draft. HE IS A GOOD FOOTBALL PLAYER...THAT SHOULD BE ALL THAT MATTERS. Brady Quinn is going to fall this year too. I actually understand that one a little more though. Quinn is a pretty solid player, but he struggled in all the games where he was playing a real opponent (like USC or Michigan). He did beat up on Army and Navy pretty good though, so that should count for something.

Anyway...I am not a huge fan of the combine. But you will see more NFL Draft related posts from me as we come to the draft.
