NFL Week 3 Thoughts
Sorry for skipping Week 2, had a busy week and actually didn't watch very much football.
- The Cincinnati Bengals are headed for a 7-9 season, I fear. There are too many holes on this team. Carson Palmer is having an awesome season so far, as are Chard Johnson and TJ. Otherwise they are playing terribly. On the plus side, Chris Henry will be back after the 8th game and Chris Perry will be back after the 5th game. So that should help hypothetically. Although, unless one of them learns how to play lock down defense, it probably won't matter
- The two best looking teams are New England and Pittsburgh. I only leave the Colts out because I have only watched one of their games. I'm sure they are just fine. But New England is bludgeoning everyone they play, mostly with their passing game. Next up? The Bengals, who can't stop the passing game. Uh Oh.
- I take back what I said last time about Brett Favray. He looks like he is 25 again. Fun to watch. Although I keep expecting him to wing the ball into triple coverage.
- The Saints are terrible. Drew Brees looks nothing like he has his entire career. I suspect steroids. Reggie Bush looks like a high schooler. I suspect heroin.
- Joyfully, the bears are terrible and Rex Grossman continues to suck!! I hope they keep him as the starter forever!
- I don't understand the rules that state when a ball is ruled incomplete on the field, it can't be challenged. I don't get that. Why? Why is not every single play challengeable? So far this year I have seen some pretty poor officiating. It seems to be bad for everyone though, so at least they are consistent. As a close family friend always says, "THEY NEED FULL TIME OFFICIALS!!!"
- It's fun to see Houston play well for the first time. I think everyone is rooting for them. Matt Schaub is the greatest QB since Joe Namath (which of course means that he is just a little bit better than average. In a future post I will explain to you why I don't like Joe Namath and think he is overrated.)

Championship Game Observations
Welcome to the worst two weeks of the NFL season. 2 weeks of non-stop talking. How exciting!
Anyway...here are my thoughts from last night's games.
- Rex Grossman is sweet...did you see those throws he was making? He only needed his receivers to make like 3 awesome, acrobatic catches this game. That's a step in the right direction.
- Reggie Bush is fast and awesome...but I wouldn't be taunting Brian Urlacher. Of course I am 5'9", 150 lbs with little muscle mass and can't run. So there's that.
- Tom McGorgeous, QB for the Patriots, must be really disappointed. I mean his team loses the AFC championship game. Now he has to go his awesome house, in his awesome car, to see his supermodel girlfriend, and go swimming in his silo full of gold coins. While wearing his 3 Superbowl rings. I feel for the guy...I hope he pulls through.
- Peyton finally won a big game. I REALLY hope he wins the Superbowl...just so everyone will shut up about it already. Also, I want to see Dan Marino cry on TV. Plus, Marino made out with Einhorn/Finkel. And Einhorn/Finkel was a dude. I saw it on my TV the other day. Looked real to me.
- But most important...we have two black coaches in the Superbowl. This is the biggest thing that has happened in the civil rights movement since integration. It is hard to truly appreciate this type of thing. In 30 years we will look back on this time as a watershed moment in civil rights history. It's nice to finally see black people have success in professional sports. It's been a long time coming.
They should have some sort of celebration before the super bowl. They can show clips from Glory, and Dr. King speeches, and interviews with Rosa Parks. Then they can show Tony Dungy, who in my mind is equal in historical terms as Frederick Douglas. And I doubt Douglas could have designed a Cover 2 defense
