Friday, July 20, 2007Michael Vick is SorryBy now I am sure everyone knows about Michael Vick's alleged involvement with dog fighting/killing. I say alleged because it hasn't been proven yet, but there is a FEDERAL indictment. This isn't some silly state indictment...those are a dime a dozen. The Fed only comes down when it has real evidence. Although I think their murder charge against Dr. Richard Kimball was federal. And they were wrong! Kimball didn't kill his wife! And Tommy Lee Jones doesn't care!! Where was I. Ah, yes. There are reports that Vick has apologized to Falcons owner Arthur Blank and his team. So he is sorry! Let him go! He apologized! Apparently Commissar Goodell agrees and is not going to send down a severe punishment like he does for the other criminals in the league. But those criminals don't sell t-shirts!! Vick does. Goodell's apparent double standard is so obvious it's insulting. Here's the lesson: If you are a superstar...do whatever you want. The NFL will just recommend you take a PAID leave of absence. I call that vacation. If you are a non-superstar (Jared Allen, Chris Henry, Pacman Jones, etc...) you will be punished harshly. You hear that Peyton Manning & Tom Brady...you can do what you want! I am guessing that if video tape came out tonight that showed Manning & Brady killing a hooker in an alley in Boston, Goodell would chuckle and "let it slide...but just this time. Now go sell some t-shirts!!!" The new commissioner is terrible. He got himself in this mess by punishing alleged criminals before their day in court. Now one of his favorites is in trouble and he is going to change how he reacts. It's garbage and I have no respect for him. The NFL should be ashamed...if non-living entities could have emotions of course. Anyway, the lesson here is that if you see Manning or some other NFL super-duper star in an alley...RUN FOR YOUR LIFE Labels: Michael Vick, NFL, Peyton Manning, Roger Goodell, Tom Brady
