Robert Byrd

Last week, while Congress was - for some reason - talking about the Michael Vick thing, Senator Robert Byrd (D-WV) graced us all with his words:
I am confident that the hottest places in hell are reserved for the souls of sick and brutal people who hold God's creatures in such cruel and brutal contempt.
This is, of course, the same Robert Byrd who was a member of the KKK for about 10 years or so. THE KKK!!! The same KKK that would lynch black people during the same time he was a member!! THE KKK!!! Here is a quote from Byrd regarding racial integration of the US Army:
Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds. I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Negro by my side.
Yikes.

Maybe Senator Byrd should refrain from making comments about who the hottest places of hell should be reserved for. {editors note - I don't think there are different temperatures in hell. I could be mistaken though. Although the Far Side comics seem to portray it that way. I guess it must be true!} I am amazed that someone like Byrd could be elected to the position he is in...or at least I was until I remembered he is from West Virginia!

Yea West Virginia!!!
